Juice Bar Set Up

Hi there!

I am a San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science graduate student, and this is a blog on my library musings.  Much of my reflections here will focus on Web 2.0 technology and applications for libraries.

I currently work at a medium sized public library in Southern California as an assistant for the Reference department, while also helping to oversee the Periodicals department.  We have a nice thing going here, and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful individuals.  After years of gentle encouragement by the librarians I work with, I finally started the SLIS program in Spring 2009, and have been plugging away since.

So far, my studies have been going great.  I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about various Web 2.0 and social software tools, and their applications for libraries this semester.  I also hope to have fun engaging with my classmates through online dialogue and gaining their perspective on various topics.

Cheers to a fruitful semester!

  1. I love your wallpaper, Lana...though I wonder if your final sentence reveals an addiction to puns (mock shudder).

  2. I like your site a lot, Lana and it seems like you love your library and your work. I've found that in the library there are so many people dedicated to this field.I find reference to be my favorite area and it's nice to hear other people interested in it.

  3. Thanks Jeanine. Wish I could say that I designed the wallpaper myself, but it was just one of the template options offered. Heh heh...don't worry, my punniness will most likely wane as the semester wears on due to sleep deprivation.

  4. Appreciate the kind words tc! Working with people you can get along with definitely helps create a positive atmosphere. It seems as though reference work really requires multi-tasking skills, and I'm glad that you're interested in it.

p.s. Your little mice with box icon is adorable.
